Shake Rattle and Rumble

Well I have been through my first earthquake. There was a 6.1 magnitude quake about 40 miles south of Reykjavik, it was inland around where the continental plates meet. I have seen no damage, and haven't heard of any damage, there was some rock slides and avalanches inland.

It was interesting, started kinda low and then picked up the shake, then died off suddenly.

Another first for my life here in Iceland.

That's quite a bit bigger than the one I went through here. Was it freaky?

It feels weird, doesn't it? A sort of rolling motion.

It only lasted 2 -5 seconds, dint really feel any rolling motion other than a shaking. At first I thought it was a big truck driving by, and then it just got louder and shakier...

Aloha eh,

Your earthquake warranted a mention in the Honolulu Advertiser. It was a bit weaker than ours was in October 2006, but you were closer to the epicentre, so I don't really know how it compares. Anyway, wild huh?
